Co-Founder Michaela Mir explains what stands Ada & Albert apart from the typical English carity shop.

In creating Ada & Albert, we have worked hard over the past six months to bring a whole new style of charity shop to the Chislehurst community. We’ve focused specifically on creating a sumptuous shopping experience – a welcoming environment that gives our customers far more than just a place to buy clothes. We have recruited a personal stylist – Dominique Beverton from Irrelevant Styling – who has 30 years’ experience in styling and fashion. Having Dominique on board allows us to help our customers find the perfect outfit to suit their shape and personal style, as she demonstrates how they can mix the preloved fashion they find at Ada & Albert, with their own pieces to create a whole new look.

Over the last six months we’ve introduced our Boutique charity shop concept to the people of Chislehurst, and the feedback we’ve already received proves they love the idea that they can shop with us and find those special pieces to enhance their own style, all while raising much-needed funds for projects that help improve children’s lives.

We’re encouraging people to think sustainably about fashion, and how buying
pre-loved clothes can make their lives more environmentally friendly, as by donating their own pre-loved clothes, they are enabling others to enjoy the outfits that would otherwise go to landfill. To succeed in this goal, and to ensure a strong supply of high-end and high-street stock, Ada & Albert relies on local businesses and the community for donations of good quality clothes. We’re working hard to partner with large, national department stores to source regular supplies of fantastic quality stock so that we can continue to  offer our customers a truly special fashion experience.

By shopping with Ada & Albert, by donating their own pre-loved fashions or even their time as a volunteer, our customers are supporting local, ground-roots projects that make a real change to the lives of vulnerable children across Chislehurst, Bromley and the surrounding areas, helping to give them a better start in life.

Six months on from the launch of our Charity Boutique, we’re thrilled to already be working with some exciting individuals from across the fashion industry, together striving to bring hope to the lives of children across the borough.

It’s been an amazing and inspirational start for everyone at Ada & Albert, and we’re looking forward to finding out what we can achieve over the next six months.
